[00:14.55]My mom wanted to learn Hawaii music
[00:17.22]and...She needed a rhythm guy so...

[00:23.49]and..and then my other brothers and sister took up playing instruments as well.

[00:31.99]..my sister Verginia played the Hawaii steel guitar.
[00:34.70]And my brother Fill who was my closest sibling.
[00:38.96]He was the lead guitar player,I was the accompanist.

[00:52.04]And..when I was little learning songs off the radio
[00:56.85]and tried to work out what was going on on records.
[00:59.92]One of the things that I was not aware of was that

[01:05.38]I thought for some reason that the rhythm player covered the bass.

[01:14.78]So..there was a record by a band called 'The Shadows'

[01:29.87]What I heard was.....（Bass&Ringing）
[01:39.24]And didn't sound like anyone was missing.

[01:53.06]See it making the sound of the bass as well as the rhythm.
[01:55.52]And that's...that's what I thought was..was going on.
[01:58.83]And it was kind of a happy accident,because when I got a little older

[02:06.79]I could hear he was playing everything at once.
[02:09.93]And people didn't believe that
[02:11.04]they said,"Oh,no.It's a recording trick,don't take any notice to that."
[02:14.45]I said,"Oh,no.I think he is playing everything at once..I'll show you how it goes."
